Gamegrounds is an artist-driven immersive gaming experience in Columbus, Ohio. This first-of-its-kind gaming space is a joint venture between Smooth Technology and Otherworld. Gamegrounds reimagines classic carnival games as psychedelic room-scale games for groups of 2-6 people.
As the technical lead for this project, Smooth Technology contributed to:
• Conceptual development
• Game ideation, design, and programming
• Sensors, controls, and game interaction points
• Large-scale LED mapping
• Screens and touch-screen interfaces
• User onboarding and flow, RFID wristbands, live leaderboard, and more

One of the standout features is the carnival-style game “Juggler,” where players must keep lights soaring by bopping buttons as glowing lights descend.
Gamegrounds takes everything you love about gaming, from competition to creativity, and turns it into a full-blown experience. Who doesn’t love tackling puzzles and blasting aliens with their BFFs?
